Alpaca Ridge is situated on 11.5 acres among the hills and ridges of Sussex County in Northwestern New Jersey. We are approximately 1/2 hour North of Interstate 80 and 1/2 hour South of Interstate 84.
We first became interested in the alpaca business after seeing a show on Animal Planet. This lifestyle seemed to be just what we were looking for. With Marian's experience in animal care and training (18 years as a zookeeper and a pup home for dogs in training to assist people with disabilities) this was the perfect stay at home job. We began researching the alpaca industry by visiting other farms and reading as much as we could find. After our first farm visit we were hooked. Two years later, after all the planning and building, we were finally ready for animals. Every farm we visited we found friendly, helpful people who seemed to love what they do. What a perfect business!!
Today Alpaca Ridge is home to 7 alpacas with a few more on the way. Our goal is to produce quality fiber animals with great confirmation and calm temperments. We plan to stay small and personal. By staying small we are able to give the alpacas the individual care they need. We will be making an effort to improve the alpacas through genetics, care and love of the animal. We will continue our education and would love to share our knowledge with you. If we do not have the answers we will call someone who does know. We want to make your experience as wonderful for you as it has been for us.
We would like to say a special thanks to our mentors Daryl and Frieda Goodrich at Angel Wood Alpaca Farm. Without you we would not be involved in this wonderful business.
We would also like to thank Alpacas de la Patagonia, Big Sky Alpcas, Brookhollow Farm, Cas-Cad-Nac and Snowmass Alpacas for sharing your time and knowledge with us.
